Insulation Pins

HomeInsulation Pins

Insulation pins hold insulation boards, blankets and rolls on ductwork, steel structures, boilers, tanks and ships. IFS makes CD weld pins and cup head pins for welding to steel, self adhesive pins (also called stick pins or insulation hangers) for surfaces where welding is not possible, and perforated, mesh base, marine and bimetallic pins for bonded or specialised installations.

Pins are made in galvanized, copper-plated and stainless steel, and in aluminium for some adhesive types, in lengths from 19 to 500 mm. Choose the pin by the substrate, the fixing method and the insulation thickness, then pair it with a self-locking washer or dome cap to hold the insulation in place.

FAQ

Insulation pin FAQs.

Key information for preparing an insulation fastening enquiry.

Which insulation pin should I choose?

It depends on the surface and the fixing method. Use CD weld pins or cup head pins on weldable steel, self adhesive pins where welding is not possible, and perforated or mesh base pins with a bonding or embedding material.

Which materials are insulation pins made in?

Galvanized steel, copper-plated steel and stainless steel (SS304 and SS316 as standard, with SS316L and 2205 for some pin types), and aluminium for some adhesive and perforated base types.

Do I need washers with insulation pins?

Most pins need a self-locking washer to hold the insulation. Cup head pins have a built-in head, so no separate washer is needed.
